A Child's Heart

There's nothing more pure than a child's heart. As I shared a couple posts back, our sweet Bella presented to us her dream of helping others in need (check out post: "helping hands"). We placed a box at our church to receive donations and let me tell you, we were humbled to see so many generous hearts supporting this good cause.

A week ago we had the opportunity of taking the donations to Grace Point Community Church Food Pantry. They help low income families with providing them with mainly food but other essentials as well.

As we arrive to the location, the door was locked and had a sign that they had reached their limit, they weren't serving any more families that day. My heart just sunk. A nice gentleman approaches the door and unlocks it, he knew what we were there for, we had told the assistant pastor we would be arriving around that time to take the donations.

My husband shares my little girl's story {dream} with Ms. Yemi Brown, coordinator of the food pantry, and also shares our story, how our parents once benefited from that food pantry and how it was in our heart to show our gratitude with blessing them as they once were a blessing to our parents, to our family.

Ms. Brown and the nice gentleman were touched by Bella's heart. We had come in good timing!

We were beyond blessed to be able to do this, the power of giving transcends what words can describe and to show gratitude is humbling.

To witness a moving example of giving through our child has touched our hearts beyond measure and inspired us to do more, to get out of our "comfort zone", of just an expression state to an action, the action of helping.

It's eye opening to see so much need and to know that there is so much we can do. Every little bit you do has great impact on the lives of those that are seeking just a tiny bit of compassion.

Sometimes we limit ourselves thinking we need to do something grand to make a difference but all you need is an open heart and helping hands.

"There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward." -Kahlil Gibran

With this little girl's dream of helping, she has moved people's heart to give. The donation box will remain in our church for people to donate toys for children this month.

Our heart is content to see so much love coming from this tiny being and how eagerly she desires to help. May we have the heart of a child, to give without wanting or expecting anything in return!
